TomTom’s partnership with Daimler AG to deliver real-time traffic information to COMAND systems, takes the quality of traffic information in Mercedes-Benz vehicles to a new level.
Thanks to the cooperation between Daimler AG, TomTom and Deutsche Telekom, high-end COMAND device owners in Mercedes-Benz vehicles now have access to the best traffic information available on the market.
For the first time, Mercedes-Benz drivers using the COMAND Online feature, are able to benefit from the service free of charge for three years in Germany, the UK, Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, Denmark, Luxembourg and Austria.
TomTom Traffic is rolled out in these devices as Mercedes-Benz Live Traffic. The navigation system informs the driver of traffic holdups at an early stage, so that they can choose to take an alternative route to reach their destination faster – saving time, fuel and money.
In November 2013, the popular German magazine “Connect” tested the quality of real-time traffic information in three top-level vehicles. Mercedes COMAND was revealed as the winner, offering the fastest available route and the most accurate traffic information. Unlike its competitors, it fared the best at avoiding congestion and making real-time route recalculations.
As of 2014, the smart car range has the “smart Media-System” built by TomTom as an option. It provides a great user experience accompanied by fresh graphics.
smart Media-System is based on the same platform as the R-Link. It is an affordable 7” in-dash connected multimedia tablet with a clear and intuitive interface, and equipped with a capacitive touch screen. The user interface has been designed specifically for smart with a fresh look and feel. TomTom provides navigation software, maps and three years of connected services.
